There are times in our lives where we experience difficult situations. There are times whereby we struggle to understand our own feelings, responses and behaviour.  During these times, having the opportunity to explore these feelings can be very comforting and life changing.

Counselling provides regular time and space in order for you to explore difficult emotions and thoughts with a trained professional, who will accept you for the person you are. This time allows you the opportunity to identify and understand what you are experiencing. Having a better understanding of our own behaviour and feelings offers the opportunity to change and adapt behaviour and thoughts if you feel you want to.

As a qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow the BACP Ethical Framework. I offer a safe and confidential space allowing you the opportunity to talk about anything that you want to. I work as an Integrative Counsellor drawing from a range of approaches and models of therapy to meet the needs of the individual. Working holistically offers the opportunity to make deeper connections and support balancing mind, body and spirit.

I offer one to Supervision for practitioners, both qualified and trainees, who work in therapeutically based or helping services. I am an integrative counsellor and adopt this approach within my Supervision sessions.

As a registered member of the BACP I adhere to their guidelines. The BACP define Supervision as:

“A specialised form of professional mentoring provided for practitioners responsible for undertaking challenging work with people. Supervision is provided to ensure standards, enhance quality, advance learning, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken (BACP 2018a). It is usually a formal but collaborative process that involves regular ‘consultative support’. Two or more people form a ‘supervisory alliance’ with shared objectives about how to work together constructively to provide a safe, ethical and competent service to clients. Usually practitioners consult trained and experienced supervisors, but there are occasions when ‘peer supervision’ is undertaken; before working in this way, practitioners need to consider whether they are competent and experienced enough to have the ‘additional skills and knowledge’ Good Practice, point 62).”

“Supervision is not:

• ‘policing’ or ‘checking up’ on practitioners, although there are elements of monitoring the practitioner’s practice to ensure clients are safe and have the best possible service, particularly when in receipt of services from trainees and newly qualified practitioners

• the same as therapy. At times, it is appropriate for a supervisor to offer support to a supervisee who is experiencing a personal crisis, but that support should not become lengthy, overshadow client concerns, or lessen the process of supervision”
